Students will work through problems from various math contests that WCA’s competitive math team takes part in alongside many other schools nationwide. They will also develop skills that will significantly contribute to bettering performance in the SAT and other high-stakes testing environments. Students have the opportunity to work both collaboratively and independently, to explore, discover, and present their own unique solutions to problems. They also have the option to letter in competitive mathematics, to become a member of MuAlphaTheta (the math National Honor Society) and to compete in local and national competitions. One of the competitions includes a week-long convention in Las Vegas this summer! This is a pass/fail course and counts towards earning a STEM distinction at graduation.
