Battle of the Books fosters a culture of reading at our school! Battle of the Books is a fun Family Feud-style competition where teams of students compete against peer schools to test their knowledge of a selection of books! Students will read and practice throughout the spring and compete in a final competition in May.
Grade: Battle of the Books is open to 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students. Teacher approval is required and students must meet AR goals while in the club.

Please note that our school library has limited books on hand, so students will be responsible for purchasing or checking out the books on the list. The 2022-23 Battle of the Books Reading List has links to purchase the books online. Students can also find the books at one of our local libraries. Please make sure to reserve your copies at the library early because many Windsor schools are participating in this competition!

Meeting Dates:
3rd grade students will practice in the ES Library every Tuesday from 3:05 to 3:45 p.m. beginning January 10th.
4th and 5th grade students will alternate practices between the ES Library and Music Room every Wednesday beginning January 11th. Practice will be held from from 3:05 to 3:45 p.m.
Practices will not be held over Spring Break and will end after the final competition in early May.
Final Competition: Students will compete in the final competition at Clearview Library District. The date for the final competition will be announced in spring 2023.

Cost: There is no cost to participate in this club.
Team T-Shirts: Team t-shirts can be purchased for $20 by clicking the link above. T-shirts are optional and not required. T-shirts can be worn at the competition and as regular Firebird spirit wear!
Registration Cap: There are 16 spots available per grade level.

Donate: Battle of the Books is program that offers 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students the opportunity to read. This program is free to all participants but donations are always appreciated! Donations will go towards purchasing copies of books for our students to check out from the library and hosting an end-of-competition event for our readers.
