The Windsor Charter Academy High School Athletics Department is excited to announce that the registration is open for boys' and girls' basketball. All registration information and instructions are located on our webpage. All registration steps must be complete by December 4th, 2020 in order to be eligible to participate in the 3-week tryout period. The only exception is paying the $100 sports fee, which will be applied in January.
The athletic calendar shows our daily practices/events. Please refer to this calendar often, as practice times and locations may vary.
The tryout window will fall within the 3-week pre-season period beginning on November 30, 2020. Our practice/event schedule can be found on our calendar. Under the current restrictions and limitations imposed due to COVID-19, these practices are optional. Athletes who wish to play at the varsity level are highly encouraged to participate.
To create an equitable opportunity for overall participation in WCA athletics, the following protocols will be followed:
Staggered cuts: Three rounds of cuts will occur. Two cuts will occur during the 3-week pre-season period. The varsity roster will be established during the 2nd round of cuts. The third and final cut and team selection for the junior varsity level will occur on the second day of the regular season.
This year, due to COVID-19, extra roster spots may be added on each team this season.
Individual meetings with students and coaches will be held to notify athletes as to whether or not they made the team.

Sports Officials Needed
Across Colorado, there is a critical shortage of high school sports officials for almost every sport. In some communities, high school games are being postponed or cancelled.
High school officials protect the integrity of the games our athletes enjoy playing by demonstrating qualities like honesty, objectivity, consistency, courage, and common sense. As veteran officials continue to retire, new officials have an opportunity to make a huge difference in the lives of northern Colorado athletes!
Consider the many benefits of becoming a high school sports official. You will:
Serve as a role model for the youth in our community.
Have many opportunities to stay in good physical condition.
Earn extra income where the hours are flexible.
Expand your network of friends and have fun.
If you or someone you know is interested in becoming a high school official, please complete the Potential Sport Official Form. Please list up to 3 names and emails of individuals who may be interested in officiating one or more of the sports you are interested in officiating. Your information will be passed along to the Colorado High School Activities Association (CHSAA) as well as the Northern Colorado Sports Officials. Once your application is processed, you will have the opportunity to choose the games you want to officiate. For more information about officiating in Colorado, please check out the CHSAA Officials Center.

Out-of-Season Athletic Programming
Windsor Charter Academy recognizes the impact athletics has on the social-emotional well- being of our student-athletes. Due to COVID-19, there have been significant adjustments to the high school sports calendar for this school year. WCA has developed a set of Out-of-Season Athletic Program Guidelines to guide coaches, athletes, and parents on what to expect for off-season activities for the remainder of the school year. Off-season training can begin the week of September 8th. More information for each sport can be found on the WCA Athletics website.
In accordance with the WCA COVID-19 Return-to-Play Guidelines, student-athletes will remain with a single cohort for the duration of the event to minimize the number of students and staff that must quarantine if a case is confirmed. Though off-season and pre-season training opportunities are optional, hybrid learning cohorts will be scheduled according to their assigned A or B academic groupings.
If your student is interested in participating in our high school off-seasons athletic programming, please complete and submit this registration form.
