The Clearview Library District and the Clearview Library District Friends and Foundation is hosting New York Times best-selling author William Kamkwamba on Saturday, February 22nd. William Kamkwamba wrote “The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind: Creating Currents of Electricity and Hope”. William’s book details his journey of constructing a windmill from scrap materials and an old textbook to bring electricity to his family in Malawi. In addition to being a best-selling author, Kamkwamba is a speaker, innovator, TED Fellow, IDEO.org Global Fellow, and co-founder of the Moving Windmills Project.
Prior to the event, guests are invited to attend an Innovation Fair in the WHS cafeteria. The Innovation Fair will include an interactive showcase of STEM technology from local students and businesses. Windsor Charter Academy will have a booth at the fair and Mrs. Shaler will be showcasing our students’ STEM projects! In addition, Colorado State University’s Chemistry Club, Women Engineers Club, Wildlife Society, Energy Club, Robotics Club, Algae Club, and Rams without Borders will attend! Vestas and CPP Wind Engineering will also be in attendance.
