SAT Essay Option for Juniors

This spring all juniors will take the in-school SAT. This is a required assessment that is paid for by the Colorado Department of Education. There is no cost to families.

While all students will take the in-school SAT, they do have the option as to whether they will take the essay portion of this test.  The essay is not required, but some students choose to take it based on their college plans.  If you're student is not sure whether the college programs they’re applying to recommend the essay, please reach out to the college admissions department or Ms. Seneca for help.

It's important to note that the essay does not impact the score on the multiple choice section of the test; the essay receives a completely separate score.

Students have been asked to complete this form by February 4th to state whether they will take the essay portion of the SAT.

Please email Ms. Dellanini if you have any questions.
