Webinar - Summer Planning & Essay Expectations: April 10th @ 6:00 p.m.
Note: *This will be the last webinar for the school year.
With summer right around the corner, it's time to start thinking about how students can remain engaged in meaningful activities during their break. This webinar will cover what 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th graders should be thinking about for the upcoming summer. In addition to summer activities, rising seniors (Class of 2024) will need to start considering a system to help them make progress on their college essays over the summer. While it's true that most students never want to hear the words "college" "essay" and "summer" in the same sentence, it's also true that students who work on their essay over the summer are going to have an easier and less stressful start to their senior year.
College Essay Prep & Brainstorming In-Class Workshops: 4/13 & 4/14 - Junior Classes
Looking at the calendar it can be hard to believe that we're almost at the end of the school year for WCA juniors. For our April in-class workshop, we will be focusing on the dreaded college essay, also known as the personal statement. While the personal statement can be intimidating, it can also be an amazing opportunity for students to share their values, character, personality, and goals with college admission officers. We will work with students to help them understand the purpose of the personal statement, establish strategic goals for their writing, provide examples of essays from previous students, and collectively work through several brainstorming exercises. By the end of the workshop, students will have several opportunities to plan, brainstorm, and outline potential college essay topics.
