WCA’s high school advising team will be presenting to all 8th-11th graders about the course registration process for next year. There is some important information for parents to know about this process.

As we begin our second semester, students need to be aware of the dates that they can add, drop, or withdrawn from a course.

Our Executive Board recently approved a revision to our policy on the number of high school credits students can earn in concurrent enrollment courses. After researching other schools and districts on their approach, we found there is no standard method to how schools award high school credit for concurrent courses. We also found that many schools award more high school credit than our policy allowed.

We are excited to see our students back on Tuesday, January 5th! In January and February, there are a number of long weekends requiring in-person learning to occur on Wednesdays.

At WCA’s last Executive Board meeting, a new Pearson Realize (now Savvas Realize) math curriculum was adopted for the 2021-2022 school year. This curriculum supports a shift in our math sequencing philosophy from an Algebra 1 → Geometry → Algebra 2 sequence to a more integrated approach.

Seniors have been asked to submit a 25-word quote with their picture by January 15, 2021. If students don’t turn in a quote at this time, their spot will be left blank. No initials are allowed and quotes may be edited for length or content.

National Honor Society is proud to announce that this year’s Giving Tree is now up and is bursting with gift tags! This initiative spreads cheer to children in our community who may not receive a holiday gift, and it is a great way for families to give back to our community.

Share the joy this holiday season by helping to provide a fun gift for our middle and high school teachers and staff! WCA’s Parent-Teacher Club (PTC) is collecting beverage-themed baskets and donations towards creating baskets.

National Honors Society is supporting Homeward Alliance by collecting warm clothing for the winter months!

The schedule for the last two weeks of the semester is as below. We are planning to continue our 4 day in-person schedule starting in January. We will continue our Zoom schedule on Wednesdays!

The Math Department is pleased to invite our students to participate in our math student-tutor program! Students from kindergarten through 10th grade (or through Algebra 2) are eligible to participate in this program.

The Technology Department is selling two FUYL Tower 15 Charging Lockers. The FUYL Tower 15 is an Intelligent Asset Management System that charges, stores, secures and manages assets for most mobile devices in 15 individually lockable compartments.

Our Student Council is planning another Spirit Week to celebrate the week before Thanksgiving! Students who choose not to participate in the Spirit Week should come to school in dress code.

Our Student Council is hosting a food drive from November 16th through November 19th. Each grade level will compete with each other to see who donates the most items.

We are excited to announce that Windsor Charter Academy has been approved to be an official SAT testing center! If your student is scheduled to take the SAT on December 5th, they may be able to change their testing site to WCA.

On Friday, November 20th, Student Council will be hosting a pie eating contest. Students can pay $5 to enter for the chance to win a $25 Amazon gift card.

On Thursday, November 12th at 6:00 p.m., WCA will host its second seminar on the topic of vaping and drug use. This seminar will be held via Zoom. To register for the event, please click here and details to access the seminar will be sent to your inbox. This event is open to the general public!
