Firebird Award Winners

Each week, our teachers nominate students to receive a Friday Firebird Award. This award is given to students who set a wonderful example by demonstrating The Eight Keys of Excellence!

Lucas E., a 6th grader, was recognized as a Firebird Award winner! Ms. Lackey shared, "Lucas has gone above and beyond when it comes to making sure he is getting his work done. His ‘Commitment’ to excellence in math and his class participation are evident, and he is always a good friend. Awesome job, Lucas!"


Rama K., a 6th grader, was recognized as a Firebird Award winner! Mrs. Becker shared, "Rama is an outstanding AVID student who consistently demonstrates ‘Integrity’ in all she does. She leads by example, takes responsibility for her learning, and approaches every challenge with determination and honesty. Her positive attitude and ‘Commitment’ to doing the right thing make her a strong role model for her peers and a valued member of our AVID classroom. Way to go, Rama!"


Ivy U., a 7th grader, was recognized as a Firebird Award winner! Mrs. Keenan shared, "Ivy is organized and thoughtful in AVID class. She brings kindness and intelligence to our tutorial discussions. She has a great attitude and will help anyone who needs it. She works extremely hard to maintain excellent grades and always tries her best in school and sports. Congratulations, Ivy!"


Jonah G, a 7th grader, was recognized as a Firebird Award winner! Mrs. Keenan shared, "Jonah has worked extremely hard this past semester to earn A's and B's. He makes up missing work when he is absent and comes in for help when he is confused. In math, he improved his iReady score and computation score. He is kind and considerate of others. He is a leader in AVID class, and I appreciate his positive attitude. Congratulations, Jonah!"


Gunnar B., an 8th grader, was recognized as a Firebird Award winner! Mrs. Boyle shared, "Gunnar demonstrates leadership, responsibility, and pride in our school. Gunnar took it upon himself to clean and sweep the commons during last week’s basketball game.  Thank you, Gunnar, for your willingness to take ‘Ownership’ and for the respect you show for our shared spaces. Thank you for being a model Firebird!"


Kya H., an 8th grader, was recognized as a Firebird Award winner! Mrs. Fuller shared, "Kya exemplifies what it means to be an AVID student by showing dedication, responsibility, and a strong ‘Commitment’ to academic growth. Through perseverance, organization, and a positive attitude, she consistently models the habits of success that inspire everyone around her. Great job, Kya!"
