Each semester, students can be recognized for a unique award at our middle school - the Firebird on Fire Award. Students who receive a Firebird on Fire Award demonstrate one of the Eight Keys of Excellence!
Jonnae J., a 6th grader, was recognized as a Firebird on Fire Award winner! Her teachers shared, "The 6th grade team would like to recognize Jonnae for her exemplary behavior, dedication, and genuine kindness towards others. Throughout the academic year, she has consistently demonstrated a commendable work ethic, tackling challenges with resilience and determination. Her positive attitude and exemplary conduct serve as an example to her fellow classmates. Keep up the outstanding work, Jonnae!”
Jeffrey P., a 6th grader, was recognized as a Firebird on Fire Award winner! His teachers shared, "The 6th grade team would like to recognize Jeffrey for his exemplary behavior and contributions to our school community. He consistently exhibits a positive attitude that brightens the classroom and uplifts those around him. Not only is he appreciated among his peers for his kindness and inclusivity, but he also inspires others through his resilience in overcoming challenges. Ximena T.F., a 7th grader, was recognized as a Firebird on Fire Award winner! Her teachers shared, “Ximena is an exemplary student whose character shines brightly through her actions. As a student, she is known for her honesty and dedication, always striving to do her best in every class. She managed to elevate her math grade by three letters, a testament to her unwavering perseverance and hard work. Ximena willingly volunteers her time to assist others, whether it's assisting classmates struggling with math or listening to a friend. Ximena remains remarkably humble, never seeking recognition for her efforts. She exemplifies what it means to be a WCA Firebird and the 7th grade teachers are proud to honor her. Cameron W., a 7th grader, was recognized as a Firebird on Fire Award winner! His teachers shared, "Cameron is a student who always works hard. He works to maintain good grades, practices ‘Speaking with Good Purpose,’ and exhibits honesty. He is committed not only to his school work but also to his hockey team. Cameron helps others when he is able to. He makes sure to include others and is always kind. He is polite and demonstrates amazing manners. We are lucky to have a student like Cameron here!”
Katie W., a 7th grader, was recognized as a Firebird on Fire Award winner! Her teachers shared, “Katie has demonstrated every key of excellence since the beginning of the year. She is flexible when assignments change, or she needs to make adjustments to her work. If she makes any mistake, she is quick to learn from it and not repeat the same mistake twice. When she commits to completing a task, she has the ‘Integrity’ to continue working at it until it is done. Katie makes the most of her time in class, knowing that every moment counts. She is kind with her words and supports those around her, even if they are not part of her friend group. Katie has balanced her personal and school life so well that she has maintained straight A’s the entire school year. Katie exemplifies what it means to be a Firebird!”
Morgan B., an 8th grader, was recognized as a Firebird on Fire Award winner! His teachers shared, “Morgan exemplifies the 8 Keys of Excellence daily in all aspects of his academic life. Morgan arrives at school with passion and enthusiasm every morning, ready to fully engage in the learning process. His positive attitude and strong work ethic shine through in class as he actively participates, asks insightful questions, and supports his peers. His willingness to go above and beyond the basic requirements of assignments and projects sets Morgan apart. Morgan invests the time to deeply explore topics, resulting in work of exceptional depth and quality. Even when faced with challenges, he maintains a growth mindset and works diligently until he masters the material.
Moreover, Morgan consistently puts his academics first, even if it means making personal sacrifices. Whether staying after school for extra help, studying and refining his work, or taking on academic challenges outside his comfort zone, his dedication to educational excellence is unwavering.
