An Update on our Grading Policy

With the close of the first quarter last week, elementary and middle school families are able to see final grades reflected in Infinite Campus. At the end of the semester, high school students will see their final grades. Families may notice a few differences this year based on a new grading policy that was implemented earlier this year.

The first change is that grades will no longer have a plus or minus associated with them. One of the reasons for this change was to be in alignment with Aims Community College's grading scale for our high school students taking concurrent enrollment courses. Infinite Campus has recently been updated to no longer reflect pluses or minuses.

In addition, just like GPAs, our percentages will no longer round up. Please note that the impact of the letter grade on a student's GPA has not changed with this new policy. For example, a B+ has always had the same weight on a student's GPA as a B. The emphasis is on the GPA, not the grade. This is why students receive academic recognition based on GPA rather than grades.

If you have any specific questions regarding grades, please reach out to your student's teacher(s) first, and then your school principal.
