Process to Become a WCA Driver

We appreciate your interest in becoming a driver for Windsor Charter Academy! The instructions below outline the CDE training. Please register for the training with the CDE Transportation Department. This training is free of charge.

Note: If you have taken this course and can provide your certificate, you do not need to take the class again unless directed by Windsor Charter Academy or CDE.

CDE Transportation Department Training

  • This course can take up to five (5) days to receive login information.

  • You will be required to print/screenshot forms at the end of this class to give to the WCA District Transportation Records, not the Colorado Department of Education Transportation Division (CDE). Rebecca Sykes from CDE is responsible for administering online courses. Please contact Rebecca if you have any questions or have issues getting into the class. 

  • After completing the course, you are required to set up an in-person appointment with the WCA Director of Facilities Management to complete your drive file and hands-on bus testing for the current school year.

Required Documentation

Below is an overview of what will be required for your file to be approved as a driver for the upcoming school year. Even if you are a returning driver, you will need to be able to provide the following documentation:

Type A / Multifunctional / Small Vehicle Activity Qualification File

  1. Current Copy of Operator License & Insurance 5.03(a) - Provided by Driver

  2. Current Motor Vehicle Record 5.03(c) - Provided by Driver

Annual Motor Vehicle Record Report

  • An Annual Motor Vehicle Record Report (MVR) Report is required to drive. Please use this link to access your current MVR Record.

Other Documentation

  1. Current Copy of CDE STU-17 Multifunction/Small Vehicle Operator Medical Info Form 5.03(f) - Provided by WCA & CDE

  2. Certificate of Receipt from Type A/Multifunction/Small Vehicle 5.03(d) - Provided by CDE
