Immunizations
Immunizations are an important part of our children’s health care, and Colorado law requires all students attending Colorado schools to be vaccinated against certain diseases unless a medical or non-medical exemption is filed. Parents have the right to exempt their child from school immunization requirements. A medical exemption requires a certification signed by a licensed healthcare provider and needs to only be submitted once. Parents/guardians need to submit an acceptable form of non-medical exemption by the beginning of each school year. Acceptable forms of non-medical exemption can be found here.
Schools work hard to ensure compliance with the immunization laws. Your help in providing updated immunization records at school registration and when your child receives additional vaccine(s) is greatly appreciated. Please discuss your child’s vaccination needs with your child’s doctor or local public health agency. Please bring your child’s updated immunization records to the school each time your child receives an immunization.
For more information about vaccine requirements, resources, exemptions, or annual parent immunization letters, please visit the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment’s School Immunization page, or contact your school nurse.
