Student Council would like to celebrate students returning to in-person learning 4-days a week with a spirit week! Students will receive more information from Student Council, but the dress up days for next week are listed below.

WCA is excited to announce the new Firebird Writing Center, opening Tuesday, October 20th! The Firebird Writing Center is available to all high school students who need help with writing assignments for any class. The Firebird Writing Center is not an editing service; rather, its purpose is to help students build their writing skills.

WCA staff and administration have been intentional and thoughtful in our safety plans as we transition to four days of in-person learning. Students and staff will continue to adhere to health and safety protocols by wearing masks, cleaning surface areas, and hand sanitization.

WCA's Parent-Teacher Club (PTC) would like your help to treat our teachers and staff with Boo Baskets! Families can put together a fun basket of treats ($10 suggested value) with candy, gift cards, or other trinkets! Send your basket to the school with your student by October 28th. Baskets can be delivered to classroom teachers or to the front office. All Boo Baskets will be delivered on October 30th!

Online schooling during COVID-19 has has drastically changed the amount of time children spend on the internet. The internet provides dynamic opportunities to learn and connect with others, but also introduces risks, including: cyber bullying, exposure to inappropriate material, online predators, sexting, and over-sharing of personal information. During this seminar, Robb Miller, Assistant District Attorney at the Weld County District Attorney's Office, will provide vital information regarding how parents can keep their children safe in the digital world.

Several high school juniors are registered to take the PSAT/NMSQT on Wednesday, October 14th. Students registered for this exam should plan to be at school no later than 8:15 a.m. to check in.

Teen suicide can occur after a stressful life event, such as problems at school, a breakup with a partner, the death of a loved one, a divorce, or a major family conflict.

The Boettcher Foundation Scholarship application cycle is now open to all qualifying high school seniors. Please visit the Boettcher Foundation's website for more information. Applications are due by November 1st, 2020

Due to COVID-19, we are asking all families to check our webpage frequently for updates to menu items. Online families (Calvert, Courseware, and EdOptions families) can sign sign up for weekly meal packages.

High school teachers be hosting parent-teacher conferences the week of October 5th via Zoom. Parents can sign up for 10-minute meetings with their students’ teachers during this week.

Over the past several weeks, we have noticed that families experience minimal to no wait time if they choose to drop off their student between 7:50 - 7:55 a.m. and if they pick up between 3:10 - 3:15 p.m. By arriving during slightly different times our families can avoid the traffic line!

The Colorado Department of Education (CDE) and the Colorado Department of Higher Education (CDHE) recently released their Annual Report on Concurrent Enrollment in Colorado. WCA is excited to be a part of our state’s growing concurrent enrollment programs!

We will be offering Picture Retake Day for Group A, Group B and our Online Courseware Learners. Skillman order forms can be picked up in the front office.

Each year, Colorado state public schools participate in the October Student Count as required by the Colorado Department of Education. The purpose of this count is to determine an official number of students enrolled in each school. This year, the count will occur from September 24th through October 8th. Our school receives state funding based on the number of students present during this time period.

Windsor Charter Academy is incredibly proud of Kate R., our first National Merit Scholarship semifinalist! National Merit Scholarship semifinalists have an exemplary academic record and have among the highest test scores in the state.

Seniors who have signed up to take the SAT this fall will be taking this test on Wednesday, September 23rd.
