Does your student have an upcoming absence? There is a new, convenient way for families to request an absence in Infinite Campus. Beginning Tuesday, October 10th, absences can be requested via the Infinite Campus Parent Portal. To learn how to request an absence, click here.
Our staff will be notified of the absence. While you may continue to request absences by calling your school’s attendance line, requesting absences via the Parent Portal is an easy way to process the request from your phone.
Please note that even though an absence can be requested via the portal, it does not mean that the absence is excused. There are five reasons an absence is considered excused:
A student who is temporarily ill or injured or whose absence is approved by the administrator of the school of attendance on a prearranged basis. Prearranged absences will be approved for appointments or circumstances of a serious nature only which cannot be taken care of outside of school hours.
A student who is absent for an extended period due to a physical disability or a mental or behavioral health disorder.
A student who is pursuing a work-student program under the supervision of a public school.
A student who is attending any school-sponsored activity or activities of an educational nature with advance approval by the administration.
A student who is suspended or expelled.
An unexcused absence shall be any absence that is not found within the foregoing exceptions listed here.
