My name is Carolyn Mader, I’m a member of the Windsor Charter Academy Executive Board. We hope to use this “Board Corner” to provide you information on what topics and issues the Executive Board is working on throughout the year.

School fees for Windsor Charter Academy students are due at the start of the school year. The 2021-2022 School Fees were approved by the Executive Board.

Infinite Campus, commonly referred to as IC, is a student information management system used by Weld RE-4 School District and Windsor Charter Academy. All families have an IC account - one for each parent and one for each student.

Each year, our parents are asked to complete a Parent Agreement Form for each student enrolled at our school. Any student who does not have a signature form on file by the last day of August may have their technology account access revoked.

Windsor Charter Academy’s school counselors are committed to the social and emotional success of all students! Coffee with Counselors is a monthly event where our parents can meet with our elementary, middle, and high school counselors. The goal is to build a strong parent-school partnership to support the social-emotional needs of our students!

Windsor Charter Academy and Clearview Library District recently partnered to launch the Sora Reading App. Sora, by OverDrive, is a free reading app that helps students discover and enjoy leisure and classroom reading. With Sora, Windsor Charter Academy students can utilize Clearview Library District’s digital materials that are filtered for age-appropriate content.

We are excited to have our parents back in our buildings and volunteering at our school. All families are required to fulfill their 35-hour volunteer commitment each year, and one way to accomplish that is to participate in a Board or support committee.

Next Wednesday, May 14th will be the last date that WCA will be distributing meal packages for our Firebird families. Weld RE-4 will be providing free meal packages to students through the month of June.

As a publicly-funded charter school, Windsor Charter Academy is impacted by legislation that is introduced and discussed at a state and national level. As a parent of a charter school student, it is important to be aware of how legislation can directly impact our schools and our students.

Windsor Charter Academy Schools are located near the Eastman Park Corridor. As part of the planning process for the Eastman Park Corridor, the community is invited to the public open house.

North Range Behavioral Health has some exciting events for the month May! North Range Behavioral Health created a calendar for May that incorporates positive mental health strategies - 31 Tools to Thrive.

Next week is Teacher Appreciation Week! Let’s celebrate our teachers with a special event each day!

On May 5th, 6th, and 7th from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. students in grades 5 - 11 will have the opportunity to participate in a Cheer Tryout Clinic. This clinic will be held at the MS/HS gymnasium.

Windsor Charter Academy’s National Honor Society, in coordination with UCHealth, is hosting a Blood Drive on Friday, April 30th from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The UCHealth bus will be parked in front of the middle/high school building.

It’s that time of year! Our Parent Teacher Club has coordinated with 1st Day School Supplies so parents can purchase school supply boxes for the 2021-2022 school year. Supply lists have been approved by teachers and administration.

Join us for Scholastic Book Fair! The Scholastic Book Fair will be held in the elementary school library Monday, May 3rd through Friday, May 7th. We are excited to be able to provide this in-person event to our students!

Windsor Charter Academy is seeking candidates to serve on our Executive Board! Due to our school closure last March, WCA was unable to hold its annual election last May. If parents or other community stakeholders are interested in running for a Board position, please visit our website for information about the application process.
